Contains: Sept 17, 1961 flood kills 5 members of hiking group, 3 bodies recovered - 2 bodies never found; storms caused $400,000 in damages. 12,600 acres of privately owned land exists within park boundary. 1,114.32 acres of land purchased by Nevada group for subdivision are carving out roads and building sites on the talus below Lava Point Lookout. Mission 66 construction: 5-new residences built, including utilities and roads, 1,000,000 steel water tank installed at Birch Creek, 3 miles of fencing, flood damage repairs, 13 miles of chip seal completed. Numerous personnel changes.
