Superintendent's Annual Report 1960 - Frank R. Oberhansley, Superintendent, 1 folder, 9 pages, no visitation stats. Contains: Paul R. Franke, Superintendent of Zion retires end of Dec. 1959. Recruitment of qualified personnel difficult due to housing shortage. Zion relieved of administration duties of Capitol Reef NM. Kelley G. Hilton, an employee of Utah Park Co. died from a fall while hiking in Watchman area. 2 new comfort stations were built in So. Campground along with 32 new campsites, with roads, pullouts, tables, fireplaces, and utilities. Visitor center construction completed. South Entrance road constructed and reconstructed. New bridge at Oak Creek Crossing and repairs and widening at Virgin River Bridge at Canyon Junction. New parking lot completed at new Visitor Center. Reconnaissance of East and West rims for planning of roads in those areas. Highway planning for proposed road from U.S. 91 (I-15) to Lee Pass. Charles McCurdy came to the park. Many personnel changes. Senate Bill #S-713 signed by President on Feb 20, 1960 added approx. 3,470 acres to Zion NP.
