Description:

Superintendent's Annual Report 1939 - P.P. Patraw and Paul R. Franke, Superintendents, 1 folder, 18 pages, 152,520 visitors. Contains: ERA, PWA, WPA, and CCC programs underway. Oak Creek water system construction of 200,000 gallon water storage tank - $26,500.00. Lehman Cave administration transferred to Bolder Dam NRA on Dec 15, 1938. P.P. Patraw transferred 1/1/1937 to Hot Springs NP after serving as Zion Supt. since 1932. Paul R. Franke became Supt of Zion. Pueblo diorama with cast figures of early explorers and pioneers installed. CCC Crews (172 persons): revetments; river protection; road work; caterpillar control; deer trapping and transplanting; utility area buildings; PWA installed water lines; ERA installed sewer lines; WPA worked on bank sloping. Memos to Chief Clerk Strunk; Chief Naturalist, Walker; CCC Clerk, Mahan; and Chief Ranger Jolley, from Assistant Superintendent, John M. Davis. Brief synopsis of 1939 Annual Report.
