ZION 15652 Superintendents Annual Report 1959
Superintendent's Annual Report 1959 - Paul R. Franke, Superintendent, 1 folder, 14 pages, no visitor statistics. Contains: U.S. 91 renamed to I-15 from St. George, UT. Mission 66 construction contract awarded to George W. Renie for new Visitor Center for $359,032.00. Notice to proceed issued on Apr. 3, 1959. Completion scheduled for Apr 2, 1960. Oak Creek and Visitor Center Sewer System completed at the cost of $25,050.00. Wage rate previously based on Iron Mining industry in Cedar City, UT will now be based on rates established by Armed Forces on Utah installations. Housing shortages a serious problem, and safety issues raised. One fatal accident: Aug. 26, 1959, Mrs. Milo Long, 42, fell 200' from gallery four in tunnel. Truck regulations still in effect.
