"The definite front of most westerly lobe of Lyell glacier and most easily measured lobe encountered. We found it necessary to use morainal boulders in marking the line A-B so painted our marks on 5 large rocks along this line. The end points A and B are approximately 300 feet apart. Measuring to the ice front from the third of these markers from either end showed a distance of 21'6"."
