Came to Yosemite in 1931 where he was a supervisor in the construction of the Wawona Road Tunnel for Goerig and Dahlberg Contractors. The Bureau of Public Roads hired him as supervisor on three Big Oak Flat Tunnels for his experience as powderman; now employed by National Park Service on road maintenance (1952).
