Graduated Purdue University 1935; Special Concrete Construction Course, Syracuse University summer 1942; also engineering courses at Rochester Technical Institute. Entered National Park Service January 17, 1949 in Regional Office, Region Four; came to Yosemite August 4, 1949. During the war he was with the Corps of U.S. Engineers from March 1941 to December 1945.
