Airplane enters Yosemite Valley. This photograph was taken on or about July 20, 1921 and shows Chief Ranger Forest S. Townsley meeting the first child to land in Yosemite Valley by airplane. On the left, inside the plane, is Virginia Varney with her mascot "Fussy," her stuffed cat. Her mother, Aileen Varney, is standing in the center, the wife of Walter T. Varney who operated an early air taxi service. A copy of this image was published in Aerial Age Weekly, Volume 14 No. 3 (Sept. 26, 1921) P. 53. Original print in over-sized photo drawer in RL. Copied by J. Ernest, copied 1983.
