Frank Bayley Ewing and Grace Sovulewski Ewing upon retirement from NPS. Ewing, Frank Bayley. Born Rattlesnake Bar, Eldorado County, Calif. June 8, 1885. Grandfather on mother's side was partner of Marshall who discovered gold at Sutters Hill. Married Grace Charlotte Sovuleski. Employed with U.S. Geodetic Survey; came to Yosemite as Ranger April 16, 1916; became Asst. General Foreman January 1, 1919 and Asst. Park Supervisor in charge of Roads and Trails May 1, 1920. Retired from National Park Service June 30, 1950. Frank Ewing organized pack trip for Stephen T. Mather and a large group of his friends who went over the John Muir Trail during the summer of 1915.
