Ferdinand Hayden, a geologist and geographer, worked with a team of scientists and artists to document Yellowstone’s natural phenomena. Expedition members even embarked a small canvas boat affectionately dubbed the Annie on Lake Yellowstone, the first-documented sailed vessel on the lake.
