Back of a carte-de-visite. Front shows a half-length portrait. Man with white beard and graying hair (no mustache) is three-quarter view to his left. He wears a white waistcoat and jacket with three buttonholes in lapels. Inscription: "John S.C. Abbott / AE. 70" written in cursive in ink below image. To left is "Warren" printed in red. "Died June 17. 1877" written in pencil by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow verso. "Warren's Portraits / 465 Washington St., / Boston." printed in cursive in red ink verso. Notes: C1875. In envelope labeled "Longfellow's Photographs of His Classmates Bowdoin College Class of 1825" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Dana in block print (envelope holds paper scrap possible from envelope with "Classmates" in Henry Wadsworth Longfellow handwriting, "Henry W. Longfellow Guardia[n] / Cambridge"). Others in group date before 1878. It is possible some were collected at the 50th class reunion.
