The title and a quotation from the HWL poem is printed below. We keep the title "The Quadroon Girl" because it is the title that was given to the statue and it is the title of the Henry Longfellow poem. Inscription: "To Mr. Longfellow / with the compliments of / the Sculptor" written in cursive in ink lower right corner of mount. Sculptor's, photographer's, and publishers' names printed in small letters below image. Notes: C1869 because copyright 1869.
