Fanny Longfellow sits with her left hand on a book. The book is placed on the Renaissance Revival style table to her side. A patterned carpet is visible. She wears a striped dark-colored dress with white collar and undersleeves. Inscription: "Fanny E. Longfellow / 1861" written in pencil underneath image. "6069 / 70" written in pencil verso. "[F]rench dress sent / by T G Appleton / black with yellow stripes" written in cursive in pencil verso. Notes: C1860. The year 1861 in the inscription may have been year the photo was taken or it may refer to year print was made and/or received. Fanny Longfellow is wearing the same dress and hair arrangement as in 3007-1-2-4-5 to -16 attributed to Black & Batchelder. The background differs in floor covering and props however; Fanny Longfellow could have been posed in two different rooms in the same session. Interestingly the table here matches the table used in a John A. Whipple carte-de-visite of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (3007-1-2-1-15, -16). Associated Materials: 3007-1-2-4-20 identical image and format. 3007-1-2-4-17 to -20 use same background, -17, -18 having the column.
