Dear Fanny,
Julia cannot be with you tonight; and I must forgo the pleasure too. She and I are both happy in being remembered.
I thank you too very sincerely for the (benison) of your note, I read it; for I have no joy in my new responsibilities; nor am I conscious of the honor which the world attributes to my position. Most (unfeiquedly) do I wish that another was in my place. Ever Thine,

P.S. Give my love to the Story’s, Lowell, and Danas. I wish I could see them.
