Marble or stone statue of Dante standing with his right hand to his face and his left to his waist. The background is black.
Inscription: Inscription written in pencil in cursive verso possibly by Rev. SL records the statue's inscription: "A Dante . . ." "Piazza dei Signore" added. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Dana added in pencil "Dante's statue at Verona."
Notes: C1865-C1870 because of general format and date of statue (1865). Originally filed in Dante Material.
