Group Mounted on Horseback Along Reno's Crossing
LIBI_00019_00573; This item is an original albumen, card-mounted photograph of a group on horseback at the crossing where Major Marcus Reno escaped during the Battle of Little Big Horn. The imperial view photograph is 6 1/2 x 9" (6 7/8 x 9 7/8" mounted) and was produced in 1886 by David F. Barry at the 10th anniversary of the battle. On the front, a typed notation in gold ink reads, "Reno Crossing, Custer Battlefield, June 26, 1886." On the verso, a handwritten notation in pencil reads, "Custer Battle Field June 25th 1886." Handwritten description provided by Elizabeth B. Custer.
