Trader's Store, Standing Rock Agency, Dakota Territory
LIBI_00011_07123; A black-and-white (possibly sepia toned) photograph of trader's store, Standing Rock Agency D.T., with an insert (using double exposure method) of Captain George Yates on top left of print; captured by D. F. Barry, circa 1885. On the verso of print, a handwritten ink notation reads, "Trader's store in the Standing Rock Agency, D.T. x this is the store in Capt. Custer and Capt. Yates arrested Rain in the Face, that later caused the big fabrication of personal animosity or enmity between Capt. Custer and Rain in the Face, and that on June 25, 1876 Rain in the Face cut the heart out of Capt. Custer and ate it. Utterly false as the Indians never knew they fought the US. Cavalry on June 25th. They thought it was General Crooks troops, when they had defeated a week previous."; PRINT, PHOTOGRAPHIC; Courtesy of the National Park Service, Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, LIBI_00011_07123, D.
