Hand-colored photograph of a field of molten lava. Originally a black and white photograph, the image has been colorized post-capture with bright red and light blue. The entire forefront of the image consists of a dynamic lava flow, as evidenced by areas of lava spewing vertically. Large areas of dried lava sit atop the molten lava below and form rough cracks that have been colorized with bright-red paint. Towards the background, a lava fountain breaks through the cracks and releases a cloud of steam. The lava field sits within the edges of a crater which takes up almost the entirety of the background. The top half of the photograph is sky which has been colorized with light-blue paint.
