Landscape of Kīlauea with a Landing Field and Crater
Black and white photograph of a landscape taken at a high vantage point. To the right of the image, an oval-shaped piece of flat, smooth ground interjects the rough, rocky landscape. A thin white road is seen travelling through the smooth ground and extending further towards the background, ending in a cul-de-sac. The end of the road sits near the rim of a Halemaʻumaʻu crater. The calderaʻs wall begins just beyond the crater. Handwriting at the bottom reads, “11th Photo Sec. B1528. Landing Field and Fire Pit, Kilauea from S.W. 1000 ft. 11-9-23.”
