A ridge of reddish black rock towers over a straggly dead tree. The bottom third of the ridge has vertical lines depicting texture similar to rope. The rest of the ridge is covered in cracks of varying sizes.
A ridge of pahoehoe lava (pronounced puh-HOY-hoy) towers above the trail. Large features offer a chance to reconsider our sense of size and scale.
