To the right of the entrance is a large wooden sign on a stone wall. The wood sign reads, “Fort Frederick Heritage Preserve.” To the left are more signs listing each of the partners. A black fence and gate sit to the left of this sign; the gate is open. The driveway is paved outside the gate. Once inside the gate, the driveway is gravel.
Fort Frederick Heritage Preserve is located less than a mile away from Pinckney-Porter’s Chapel at the end of Old Fort Road. The preserve can be accessed by car or by walking. Note there are limited parking spaces at the preserve and no sidewalks along the road to the preserve. The area is co-managed by Beaufort County Passive Parks and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
