Album: Visiting Camp Saxton

Reconstruction Era National Historical Park

Pinckney-Porter’s Chapel is located in the area of historic Camp Saxton. Today, most of the area of Camp Saxton is within the naval hospital, which is not open to the public. Pinckney-Porter’s Chapel in the Naval Heritage Park and Fort Frederick Heritage Preserve are both open to the public. The chapel is open on a limited schedule with information on the 1st South Carolina Volunteers and Camp Saxton. The chapel offers the “Frontlines of Freedom” exhibit, guided programs, and an accessible restroom. The audio described version of the brochure for the park can be used through the UniDescription app. Use this gallery to help plan your visit to Camp Saxton.
