Western tanager (Piranga ludoviciana), Bandelier National Monument, 2016.
The western tanager has been re-classified as a member of the cardinal family, Cardinalidae, from the tanager family, Thraupidae. With experience, you'll notice the plumage and vocalization similarities with other members of the cardinal family.
