The National Christmas Tree is a Colorado blue spruce planted on the Ellipse in 1978. The tree was fifteen old and thirty feet tall when it arrived in our Nation's capital. Tonight, as it is lit for the 30th time since leaving the home of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Myers in York, Pennsylvania, the tree stands at lamost 42 feet tall.
