2017 Rockslides rock slide
Source area and runout path of a rock slide. The cliff face shows evidence of rock impacts, sheared trees, broken branches, and fresh debris on the talus slope below.
A single boulder fell onto the road west of Pohono Bridge and east of the El Portal Road/Big Oak Flat Road junction, hit the road, damaged a manhole cover over the sewer line, and ended up in the river just downstream of "Ansel's Rock". All of this material slid, rolled, and bounced down three discrete paths towards the road and river, shearing off hundreds of trees.
