2015 Hetch Hetchy Road rock fall
A person stands next to a large boulder in a forested, snow covered area.
Two rock falls in quick succession onto the Hetch Hetchy Road, on the one-way loop portion of the road between the Law Enforcement Office and NPS/Hetch Hetchy Water and Power housing areas. One boulder punched a hole into the road that fully spanned one lane. There were no vehicles on the road at the time. The source area was apparently from the boulder-covered slope above the road, as opposed to the bedrock cliffs higher up.
