“Waterloo [11th] month 28th 52
Dear Brother
It is again First day evening,and I must write to thee. We had Aunt Margaret Uncle George and Charley here to tea they have just gone. Charley has been here but once since his return from Philadelphia. Aunt Margaret seems in very good spirits since she heard that Wilson has let his Ranch he expects to come home in the Second month. how glad we shall be to see him. Mary Abbey has left us and we have Francis Bates she teaches Willie & Jane Willie has learned to spell Cab, Web and such little words he says tell Richard that they have got George Tom & Charley in the Stables with halters on Tom grows a little will he not be nice to ride by the time thee comes home. We have got a little calf Willie says but I have not seen it yet. he thinks it is very nice It stormed so hard last Sunday night that [Sall?] and I staid at Aunt Lydias. Eliza Jane said that she had just mailed a letter to thee and should wait for an answer She told me to give you a list of the names of the girls at school we have a great many I will give thee some that I think thee knows Anna Webster Sabrina Webster [Nate?] and Ed Wood. Emily Hill Laura McAlister Sarah and Lilly Gay. Libbie Backenstose (she is a real nice little girl from Geneva she boards with Miss"

"Field [Nell?] Skaats and Martha Farnsworth. I think Anna Wirts will come soon Elijah Purdie Augusta Hadley Bell Warner Martha Farnsworth Emma Kern Miss Severance Miss [Loverage?] Sabrina Webster Anna Wirts Sarah and myself take drawing lessons. We are getting along quite fast Mother says she will write thee before Christmas what to do about thy clothes We have to write compositions and read them every week and the boys speak every other week. There is no snow on the ground now We have had so much rain that it is all melted. I will send thee the Observer there is not much in it though it will come acceptable to thee I suppose Cousin Sarah is expected home Third day afternoon I must write to Ben Underhill soon we received a long letter from him he said he had just received a nice letter from thee I have had my muff made into a Victorine and Sarah has bought herself a white one Mother and I made Jane one out of some skins that we bought I guess I must close all send their love farewell thy affectionate sister Mary M Hunt”
