Red, White, and Blue Wildflowers

Floating in the middle of the waters in Cuyahoga Valley National Park's Beaver Marsh is an American waterlily bulb. Rounded, variously notched petals grow out from the center of the flower head, surrounding a collection of bright yellow stamens.

American Waterlily

Two green stems grow up and out of a bunch of greenery. Growing down towards the ground from each of the stems are white flowers in a row. At the parts of the flowers where they are closest to the earth, the white petals transition into an intricate, yellow shape similar to a bow. The white petals look like a pair of upside down pants, or breeches, which gives the flower its name.

Floating in the middle of the waters in Cuyahoga Valley National Park's Beaver Marsh is an American waterlily bulb. Rounded, variously notched petals grow out from the center of the flower head, surrounding a collection of bright yellow stamens. Several lilypads surround the flower.

Six rue anemone flowers have bloomed in the image. White petals make up the flower head with incredibly thin filaments stretching out in every direction from the center. At the ends of the filaments are small, spherical anthers that are yellow.

A single white trout lily grows at the end of its brown stem. The yellow stamens stretch downwards as the white petals curve and extend the opposite way.

Two Virginia springbeauty flower heads are blooming at the end of their brown stems. Multiple other flower buds are visible, but they have not yet opened up. Five white petals with purplish streaks grow from the base of the bloomed flowers. Pink stamens stretch out from the centers.

Perched in a leafy tree, the adult eagle has its back turned to the viewer. The eagle's head is thrown back with its beak wide open as it screeches into the air. The bird's wings rest at its sides.
