Crowded Rayweed, Parthenium confertum, has typical desert adaptations such as hairy stems and leaves. Growing to 2ft it blooms from May to October and the sap contains rubber.

This picture of the Desert Christmas Cactus, Opuntia leptocaulis, was taken in September, but the red fruits stay on the stems for much of the winter.

Puncture Vine, Tribulus terrestris, is also known as Goat's head due to the fruits which are two-spined and resemble a goat's head with horns. Originally from the Mediterranean, then have now been naturalized in the Southwest. It can grow 5ft long, but stays close to the ground, only getting about 2in high.
