Interviewer: How was the food?O'Connell I thought it was alright because I was the youngest of 11 children, and the working people ate first, so I got pretty much what was on the table when we were growing up. I never was a fussy eater. And there were times that we just had beans, beans, beans but we couldn't catch up with the supply ship so that's what you ate. There were times when we were traveling so fast and so long and we had the flour on board ship that the bakers were to make bread. 44> Every day they were to make bread and everything else. And positivity the flour had boll weevils. and they'd make the bread and you'd pick out a bug and you'd throw it away but it didn't mean anything. And this is the way these are the conditions you had to have and now everybody didn't accept it. Myself,what did I care, as long as there was something to eat. Didn't bother me a bit. I thought on the whole, the cooks and bakers did the best they could and it was all fine with me. I didn't have any complaints.
