Album: Burial Objects from the National Cemetery

Vicksburg National Military Park

Artifacts in this gallery were excavated in the process of disinterring burials in the National Cemetery. Excavation of these burials will protect them from further damage prior to and during stabilization efforts and from potential impacts from additional landslides. A secure, onsite location was renovated to serve as a designated archeological and osteological laboratory and short-term burial storage space for disinterred burials.
