Denali National Park and Preserve
The Busia Cabin is a contributing feature of the Old Eureka/Kantishna Historic District, within Denali National Park and Preserve. The cabin site is on the left bank of Moose Creek on a small bench across from the historic townsite of Old Eureka, also known as Kantishna. The historic townsite is at approximately mile 89 along the Park Road, about three miles beyond Wonder Lake, and the Wonder Lake Ranger Station. The landscape is a historic site and consists of one contributing cabin, two non-contributing structures (an outhouse generator shed), and numerous contributing archeological deposits. The site is significant under Criterion A and D for its association with the historic mining district, the Kantishna Hydraulic Company and for the information potential of its archeological features, which promise to shed light on the domestic and industrial culture of the mining district and its occupants. The period of significance is 1920 to 1942, its area of significance Exploration/Settlement, its level of significance local. Contributing landscape characteristics include buildings and structures and archeological features. The cabin maintains integrity of location, design, workmanship, materials, feeling association and setting, the site as a whole location, feeling association and setting, although growth of vegetation on site threatens the integrity of feeling and setting.
