Golden Gate National Recreation Area

On May 8, 2015 the National Park Service, working with munitions experts from Travis Air Force Base, the US Coast Guard, US Park Police and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy safely detonated an unexploded ordinance that was found by Danny Franco from the Conservancy while preparing for a future project in the area. He safely guided the NPS and munitions experts to the area where it was safely destroyed in place. This projectile is the kind that was fired from Fort Point in the 1880's.
