Album: Bonnie Clare Road at Death Valley National Park

Death Valley National Park

Taken over two days on foot, this group of photos documents a landscape more often seen from behind the windshield of a car. This closer look at Bonnie Clare Road highlights the dramatic vistas and small scale details that make up the cultural landscape. The 7.5 mile stretch of road through Death Valley National Park's northeast corner has a long history, but was most fully developed during the Mission 66 era of National Park Service history. It serves as the only access route to Scotty's Castle Historic District, another cultural landscape listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Download the Cultural Landscape Inventory here!
