Album: Marion Rosenwald School

National Center for Preservation Technology and Training

The Digital Recording Team from the National Center for Preservation Technology and Training (NCPTT) with the National Park Service (NPS) laser scanned the Marion Rosenwald School in Marion, Louisiana. The Marion Rosenwald School is one of the remaining Rosenwald Schools in Louisiana. The Rosenwald School Project, led by the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation and NCPTT, is using laser scanning, 360 photogrammetry, photography, and videography to record the remaining schools and their stories. Currently the project is focusing on Rosenwald Schools in Louisiana but would like to expand the project's scope in the future. Like many Rosenwald Schools, the Marion Rosenwald School has been moved, now has a brick veneer, and the floor was removed in the left half of the building for use as an agricultural science building for the white school. Built in 1923-24, this 3-teacher type Rosenwald School is not yet listed on the National Register of Historic Places, as some others are, but the community in Marion hope to earn this status for the school.
