"Forward Into Light!" was a popular rallying cry for the women’s suffrage movement during the early 20th century. The National Park Service joined with the Women's Suffrage Centennial Commission as it invited buildings and landmarks across the country—and social media channels—to light up in purple and gold on August 26, 2020, exactly 100 years after the 19th Amendment became part of the US Constitution. Some national parks participated by illuminating a park structure, while many other parks used a special purple and gold filter on photos.
