Album: Fall

Denali National Park and Preserve

Fall in Denali occurs as early as the second week of August, when high-alpine tundra plants change from green to red, orange and yellow. Fall colors move down in elevation over several weeks, with most plants losing their leaves by mid to late September. The peak season for fall color viewing varies a lot each year depending on how cold and windy it is; for high elevation areas, mid to late August is best, while the lower-lying forests usually peak around the second week of September.
