Album: Jackson Lake Lodge, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

Grand Teton National Park

This album consists of photos and videos taken by Park Cultural Landscape Program staff as part of fieldwork performed in 2017. The media within may not reflect the current conditions of the unit. Perched at the edge of a natural terrace, the landscape offers expansive views to the Willow Flats, Jackson Lake, and the Teton Range. The landscape is exceptionally important in areas of architecture, landscape architecture, conservation, and recreation. It was the design precursor to the NPS Mission 66 program, calling for modernized facilities to meet increased visitation. The Jackson Lake Lodge was the first building built by the NPS as an adaptation of the modern style. It is viewed as a transitional design, using Rustic style elements in an otherwise contemporary composition. The district contains the lodge, guest cottages, employee housing, corral, service station area, Lunch Tree Hill, trails, and two entry roads from different periods.
