Fort Union National Monument
On January 10, 2015, after sustaining extremely low temperatures, Fort Union and the surrounding vegetation in the valley was blanketed in a thick layer of hoar frost. Needle-like in appearance, these fragile ice formations lasted only about 90 minutes after the sun had fully risen. Enjoy these photos of Fort Union surrounded by a stunning frozen landscape.
