Deep into the heat of mid-summer and well into fall you can discover landscapes full of color. This gallery will help you know where to look. Many of the flowers that blossom during this time are prairie specialists, living in meadows and fields. Others prefer wetlands and forest understories. To help you with identification, photos are organized by flower color. Bloom times and preferred habitats are included in most captions. As you hike, take care not to pick or trample these native plants. We need your help to protect the variety of life in this national park.
