The regional Maintenance Action Team (MAT) redesigned and improved this trail to better protect park resources and serve the visitors. The MAT was able to provide a level of trail construction expertise that the monument couldn't fulfill with current staffing. The project was successful due to the positive relationship between the MAT and monument staff.
