Album: Occupation of Alcatraz, 50th Anniversary Commemoration

The 50th anniversary of the Alcatraz Occupation was marked by a collaborative event between the National Park Service, the Indians of All Tribes, Alcatraz Cruises, and the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy. Three days of free events were held on Alcatraz Island from November 20, 21, and 23, 2019 to commemorate the beginning of the 19-month occupation and to open an exhibition and a series of commemorative programming on the island. This gallery contains photos taken during these three days of events when a large number of the original occupiers and members of their families returned to Alcatraz, many for the first time since the historic occupation.
