Ship's dog, Towser, on the aft companionway of Melrose (built 1902; schooner, 4m), 1922 or 1923
Master information file says: "On board the schooner MELROSE at Eagle Harbor, Bainbridge Island, State of Washington. The stern line visible at the left is fast to an apple tree ashore, for this we paid the farmer, who owned the orchard, five dollars a month. This is in 1922 or 23, and 'Towser' the ship's dog is posing on the after companionway, that leads to the Captain's cabin. F.K.K." This photograph could have been taken as early at 1919, when Aderman signed on with the ship.[CR][CR]One of the Fred Klebingat donor cards says that this photograph was assigned "Captain Klebingat's caption number 28A" and was an Aderman photograph. See SFMNHP collection: FALLS OF CLYDE (VM 311 S7 F3 v.1.) for a detailed caption provided by Captain Fred Klebingat.
