Extended Description The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor connects the northern tip of Lake Erie to the eastern border of New York State. A black dot at the southern tip of New York represents New York City. Three rivers are shown on the map. The St. Lawrence River is the northernmost, and it forms part of New York’s northwest border. The Ohio River ripples from just south of New York to meet the Mississippi River about halfway along the latter’s length. The Mississippi River continues into the Gulf of America.
