Alt Text Battle map for Antietam National Battlefield in Maryland. Confederate positions line the western edge of the park area, shown in green, and some internal areas, while Union positions are concentrated in the northern park area. The Potomac River ripples up the left side of the map. Extended Description The park is crisscrossed by roads that intersect just outside the middle of the park, near a site labeled Dunker Church. Red arrows and dashed lines represent Confederate positions, and blue arrows show Union positions. Two red lines, labeled Longstreet and Walker, join up at the bottom of the park. They travel up its west side, crossing through the town and joining with an arrow labeled McLaws, which comes into the park from the left and points at Dunker Church. Other red Confederate lines are stationed around Antietam Creek on the park’s southwest edge, along the park’s middle, and in its northwest area. A red arrow labeled Jackson, comes in above Dunker Church and meets a blue arrow labeled Sumner Sedgwick, which comes over from the right edge of the map. Two blue arrows labeled Mansfield and Hooker come from the top of the park down toward the Sumner arrow and meet another red arrow coming up from Dunker Church.
