Red lines represent highways, and yellow dots represent towns. Extended Description The Petrified Forest is located mostly between Interstate 40 to the north and US Highway 180 to the south. The boxy, northernmost section of the park crosses over Interstate 40, and the North Entrance is at Exit 311. The south entrance to the park is located just off US Highway 180. A park road connects the two entrances. There are three towns near the park: Navajo to the east and Holbrook at exit 285 and Joseph City to the west.
