Alt Text 3D map of the Main Laboratory and surrounding buildings at the Thomas Edison National Historical Park in New Jersey. The Main Laboratory is a red, three-story building that spans nearly a city block. Other buildings stretch mostly perpendicularly in front of it. Extended Description This block is hemmed by Lakeside Avenue above, Alden Street below, and Main Street running up the right side. The entrance to the site is near the corner of Main Street and Lakeside Avenue, where a Gatehouse leads back to a Visitor Center, Physics Laboratory. Moving back in space from here are a black structure called Black Maria and three white buildings labeled Vaults 8, 12, and 33. The red-sided, gray-roofed Building 11 is across a courtyard in front of the Main Laboratory. Three red and gray long buildings that follow are the Chemistry Laboratory, Chemical Storage and Pattern Shop, and Metallurgical Laboratory. At the far side of the plot are the white Vault 32, a Watertower, and the Powerhouse and Elevator on that short end of the Main Laboratory. Visitor parking is available across Main Street from Black Maria. Legend A compass in the top right corner shows north facing down and to the left.
