Alt Text Map of Bay Forts for Fort Point National Historic Site in California. The map shows the Marin Peninsula as a long, textured gray mass of land coming in diagonally from the top left corner and San Francisco as a mound on the bottom. Several forts are labeled around the San Francisco Bay. Extended Description The waters surrounding the land masses are pale blue. The Pacific Ocean to the left is separated from the San Francisco Bay on the right by the Golden Gate strait, which also separates the Marin Peninsula from San Francisco. Two islands with forts on them are labeled in the San Francisco Bay: one on the southwest side of Angel Island, and one on the southeast point of Alcatraz. Continuing clockwise is Point San Jose in San Francisco, followed by Presidio, slightly more inland, to the west; then Fort Point, on a northern tip of San Francisco; and Lime Point, on a southeastern tip of the Marin Peninsula. Legend A scale in the lower left corner of the map shows distances of 1 and 2 kilometers and 1 and 2 miles.
