The campaign consisted of eleven battles that stretched as far north as Rocky Face just south of the Georgia-Tennessee border and as far south as the Macon & Western Railroad. The two earliest battles were closer to the northern border while the remaining nine were mostly clustered near the Allatoona Mountains by the town of Acworth. The battles happened in the following order: The Battle of Rocky Face took place on May 9 along the Western & Atlantic Railroad, The Battle of Resaca took place from May 13-15 south of Rocky Face and Snake Creek Gap along the Western & Atlantic Railroad, The Battle of New Hope Church took place on May 25 just west of Lost Mountain, The Battle of Pickett’s Mill took place on May 27 just east of the Battle of New Hope Church battle, The Battle of Dallas took place on May 28 just southwest of the Battle of New Hope Church, The Battle of Kolb’s Farm took place on June 22 southeast of Lost Mountain, The Battle of Kennesaw Mountain took place on June 27 along the Western & Atlantic Railroad west of the town of Marietta, The Battle of Peachtree Creek took place on July 20 along the Western & Atlantic Railroad south of Marietta, The Battle of Atlanta took place on July 22 where the railroads Western & Atlantic, Georgia, and Atlanta & West Point merge. Atlanta was occupied on September 2 after the Battle of Jonesboro, The Battle of Ezra Church took place on July 28 just west of the Battle of Atlanta, The Battle of Jonesboro was the final battle of the campaign, and it took place from August 31-September 1 south of Atlanta along the Macon & Western Railroad.
