The men are standing in a row. All of the men look at the camera, wearing flat caps, shirts, trousers, socks, and shoes. All four men are identified in the photo from the center to the left side of the image: Blackshear, Lovejoy, Pickerall, and Captain Griegs. Channing Lovejoy is the second man from the right. Behind the men, a few large trees grow, including one to the left of the group. Past these trees and a wire fence, which stretches from one end of the photo to the other, is a heavily forested area. A hill is faintly visible far off in the distance on the right edge of the photo. Label at the bottom of the image in the white border of the photo reads, "Captain Griegs, Pickarall, Lovejoy, Blackshear."

A black and white postcard of the Crater Hotel. There are palm trees lining the pathway to the front entrance of the Hotel. The entrance of the Hotel has stairs that lead up to the door. There appears to be signs in the front right of the stairs that are unreadable. There are people in dress clothes pictured on the right of the hotel sitting on the porch/lanai of the hotel. On the left side of the picture the hotel has six windows looking out to the entrance. There are also trees behind the hotel. On the right side of the picture there are ‘ōhi‘a trees in the front of the yard. There is a chimney cap on the roof towards the left side of the hotel.
